BAL Assessment Mount Martha Mornington Peninsula June 2025

Whilst undertaking a BAL assessment and developing a Bushfire Management Plan, Victorian Ecosystem services worked with the landholder to assist in locating potential building sites to retain as many trees as possible. This involved identifying canopy separation and the removal of woody weeds within the area of defendable space.

Such a delight to work with the owner and arborist identifying potential house sites that minimized tree loss and maximised the distance from the bushfire hazard on the adjoining bushland reserve.

Locating the driveway so it wanders through the trees and around the house enabled both good access for emergency service vehicles and an aesthetically pleasing loop that breaks the ground fuel and supports traffic flow.

Considering all aspect of the Bushfire Management Plan for access, defendable space and water supply early in the design stage resulted in a well laid out plan.
