BAL Assessment Rye Mornington Peninsula

Hidden gullies within the Mt Eliza lndscape often harbour the bushfire hazard within the landscape. Ballar, Kackerboite, Earimil, Gunyong and Manmangur Creeks are steep vegetated creeks that all have a North-West orientation in the Mt Eliza landscape, which exposes them to the hot North-Westerly winds on days of high fire danger.

These hidden creek gullies have such variable vegetation from thick weed infestations of woody weeds, from Pittosporum and Boneseed to highly flammable Tea Trees, Eucalypts and garden encroachments.

VES Mt Eliza BAL Assessment

The variability of the vegetation influences the potential bushfire intensity. These steep vegetated creeks behind the urban development are the reason the land has been identified as a Bushfire Prone Area and therfore requires a BAL Assessment to obtain a building permit.
